CONCLUSION
The Beyerdynamic DT880 headphones might be one of the best I’ve tested in terms of sound signature. It has a good analytical sound signature that suits my taste.
Build quality is solid and sturdy but I have doubts on the metal plates here which can literally cut people if they aren’t careful in handling the headphones itself and I am hoping for Beyerdynamic to redesign most of its headphones to have a detachable cable. Most companies are already offering that feature. Comfort is good but the clamping force needs to be less tight.
With the impedance of 32 Ohms, This can be easily driven by any source but after trying the DT990 Pro 250 Ohms. The sound quality is very much different from lower impedance headphones. Clarity and detail would take a hit on that but nonetheless this is still a solid headphone recommendation on me. The pricing seems to be a bit expensive than the DT990 and DT770 but I think its worth it to get this due to its analytical sound signature.
PROS
- Sound Signature
- Lower Impedance
- Good Comfort
- Good Build Quality
CONS
- Metal Plates are sharp
- A very long non-removable cable
- Clamping force is too tight
Beyerdynamic DT880 Headphones Review
SUMMARY
Overall, It is a good solid headphone because of its analytical sound signature, solid build quality and comfort as well. There are some areas that can be addressed and be fixed on the next revision.
You can get the Beyerdynamic DT880 Headphones on LAZADA.
For 32 ohm version, Beyerdynamic should have made the cable shorter for portable device uses. Frequency Response Graph shows the bass may not be enough. Will need EQ to tune up the bass and tune down the treble.
