It’s been a while that we did a headset review. Asus just sent us the newest edition of their gaming ROG Delta headset lineup, the ROG Delta S Animate Gaming Headset. We were quite critical on its older brother on our last review. Lets find out if the Delta S Animate address the gripes that we had on the Delta S. Lets check it out!

AUDIO/SOUND
SOUND SIGNATURE AND IMPRESSIONS

Bass
The bass is boomy and fuller compared to the MH752. It doesn’t really overpower the vocals and make it sound muddy or heavy, which is quite good.
Mids
Mids are no issue as well. You can still clearly hear the vocals, especially female vocals.
Treble
The treble is where it is hits the most. It is quite tamed and makes it a warmer vs MH752.
SOUNDSTAGE, IMAGING, AND ISOLATION

The soundstage here is decent, just like its predecessor, it struggles to give an accurate info when higher volumes which might be a concern.
The isolation on this one is very good. Since this is a closed-back headset, I have experienced no sound leakage, and it isolates well that can make you be immersed in listening to music or playing a game.
COMFORT

Now on to comfort, like its predecessor, I still can’t enjoy the headset for long hours without feeling the pain of the driver walls contacting to my ears directly. I am still not a fan of the D-cup ear design because people with small ears won’t fully enjoy the headset. Padding wise, they still have the same amount of padding, which is nice.
MICROPHONE
The microphone here is decent at stock settings, but it struggles to eliminate the background noise as heard in the recording. I am quite impressed with the AI Noise Cancelling feature of this headset, which eliminates most of the background noise with little change in the mic’s sound. I would suggest using this feature if you are in a very noisy environment.
SOFTWARE

The headset can be configured or customize via the Armoury Crate. It is kind of hard to find navigate the software at first. Just click the Keyboard and Mouse Icon, then Delta S Animate will show up and it would take you to the customization page. After that, you can now tune the frequencies and set certain sound profiles for different situations like gaming or listening to music. You can do other things as well as adjusting your microphone settings, changing the lighting and many more.
The other feature I want to highlight is the MQA or Master Quality Authenticated. I haven’t tested this even in the old model and I don’t use Tidal anymore, so I can’t really test it.
CONCLUSION
The Asus ROG Delta S Animate Gaming Headset still delivers the same audio performance from its older brother. I don’t have the older Delta Headsets lying around, but I feel that the Delta S didn’t really disappoint in terms of audio quality. The AI Noise Cancelling seems to be better than the old one, which is a huge plus. The animated LED lights where the headset shines from its older brothers. I do say this is quite an aesthetic feature, but I feel this is a very unnecessary feature. I am quite disappointed at this new iteration of the headset. Not much has changed and I would like to see the things I mentioned before in the Delta S Review, like the foam on the drivers and detachable would make this headset better.

Asus ROG Delta S Gaming Headset Review
SUMMARY
Overall, The Asus ROG Delta S Animate is still a good gaming headset in terms of the audio quality and the superb AI Noise Cancelling feature on the microphone. But the price tag is quite high and not a lot of gamers would spend much on a headset.
We would like to thank ASUS ROG for sending this to us for a review. You can get the Delta S in any Asus affiliated stores nationwide.
